Students Earn High Marks In Competition Featuring 20 Teams
This week, 7th and 8th grade students from World Academy in Nashua took top honors in the RIZE Robotics VEXIQ qualifier in Somersworth NH.
One of hundreds of VEXIQ competitions hosted by RIZE around the nation and designed to help students put STEM skills to practical use in a competitive setting, the Somersworth event was held in Somersworth Middle School on Jan. 26 and featured 20 teams from around the Granite State.
The World Academy students fielded two robots in competition, and team #8228B - which featured Emma Weldon, Tarek Mahgoub, and Sudarshan Prasanna - finished in the first place alliance and when to win the Teamwork Challenge Award. The teamwork challenge award is given to the two teams that work together to finish with the highest score in the robot game.
All the students have been working hard since November to qualify for the state championships in February. The win guarantees that World Academy will have a chance to compete to attend world competition in April.
