Sherri St. Lawrence

Grade 5 and 6 Science Teacher

Sherri St.Lawrence has been teaching at World Academy for ten years. She is a graduate of Rivier University with a Master of Education in Elementary Education and holds a Kindergarten through Eighth Grade New Hampshire Teacher Certification. She also has a Master of Business Administration from Rivier University along with a Bachelor of Science from Providence College.

Mrs. St.Lawrence was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire and has lived here all her life with some shorter stays in Glens Falls, New York and Merrimack, New Hampshire. She enjoys spending time at the beaches in Maine, shopping with her teenage daughter Sarah, organizing, eating out, travelling (by car or train), but most of all spending time with her family and friends.

As an educator she envisions a customized, progressive, and collaborative educational program. Mrs. St.Lawrence’s philosophy balances and unifies the ideas of cooperation through authentic learning experiences in the classroom. She does this through hands on classroom activities and labs that rely on teamwork. She also perceives Science to be fun and integrates many curriculum disciplines in order to appropriately and effectively advance its students. As a bi-monthly exercise Mrs. St.Lawrence has her students research Science Current Events. During this process students learn about state of the art Science advances in our world. In this project students are also required to present their topics to their classmates using a powerpoint platform. In this way, the whole class learns that “science is all around us”. As an educator Mrs. St.Lawrence teaching style strives to employ all of these above characteristics into her teachings. Through the use of these ideas, she hopes to make a continuing difference in her student’s lives. Mrs. St.Lawrence knows that this won’t always be easy, but nevertheless, she welcomes and looks forward to the challenge it presents. Learning and teaching is a lifelong process, one she does not take lightly. It has always been a dream to become a teacher and through this pursuit she hopes to inspire, contribute and challenge the young minds of our future. She sees the students as the best part of her classroom and she really enjoys hearing them ask questions, watching them grow and knowing they learn something each day!

Mrs. St.Lawrence joined the World Academy community in 2008.
