Susie Poore
Lower Elementary PE Teacher, Support Staff/Athletics
Susie is excited to join the World Academy team for the 2025-2026 school year! She is a graduate of Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science. While there, she competed for the Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field program. She also holds a Master of Arts in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University. Having worked in outdoor recreation and athletics over the last three years, Susie is Wilderness First Aid certified and a certified Heads UP to Youth Sports Coach. She is working towards her NH Teaching Certification in Physical Education and Health.
Susie grew up playing basketball before falling in love with running. Now, happily retired from competitive sports, she enjoys being active and spending time outside. Susie and her fiancée hope to complete an athletic event in all 50 states some day. Susie also loves building 3D puzzles and reading books of all genres – though historical fiction is her current favorite! She happily resides in her home state of New Hampshire with her fiancée, cat, guinea pigs, and extended family right next door.
Having been a student athlete all her life, Susie’s path in education has been shaped by the desire to help the next generation recognize their limitless potential. Susie’s college cross country coach once told her a coach’s main job is to ensure her athletes are bright, multifaceted, confident young people who see themselves as far more than just one aspect of their identity. Those words continue to resonate with Susie. She strives to utilize the “whole child” approach and create an environment where every child feels welcome to explore their interests and passions. Susie believes the most successful teams are those built on having fun, working hard, and forming a true community. When one of us is bought in, we all are! And, that is where the greatest growth occurs. Whether it’s in learning a new sport, adventuring in nature, or chasing a competitive goal, Susie is always excited to witness the moment a student athlete realizes they are capable of far more than they ever imagined.
