About The World Academy Athletics Department
World Academy athletes are known as NorthStars! Participating in the Tri-County Athletic League affords our athletes opportunities to play and compete with other schools across the State. Heart, pride, strong character, and unwavering sportsmanship are the hallmarks of all World Academy student-athletes. It is our hope that during Middle School, students will participate in an athletic sport or club, challenging themselves physically and mentally, while having fun creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Following a seasonal sports schedule enables our athletes to participate in a diverse range of events. Some sports allow for any number of participants, while others will have tryouts for limited spots. In the Fall, students can participate in Cross-Country Running and/or Soccer. In the winter months, we offer Basketball, Spirit Team, Volleyball, and Ski Club. Spring showcases Track and Field meets. While these sporting events are team-focused, there are also opportunities for participation without competition, such as skiing in the winter and swimming in the summer. There is a nominal player fee for each sport to defer costs associated with Tri-County dues, referee fees, coaching stipends, travel expenses, and uniforms.
Students are required to attend all practices and scheduled games when part of a team because every team member is of equal importance. Students and parents are kept well-informed about when opportunities for tryouts and sign-ups become available. Games, practice, and meet schedules will be distributed through handouts, emails, and the World Academy website. The World Academy website is also the place to track our successes as individuals, teams, and the school as a whole.
In the interest of keeping all our student-athletes healthy, World Academy strongly encourages all students participating in sports in Grades 5-8 to undergo a test called the Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing (imPACT) prior to competing in any school sports. This testing will measure memory, processing speed, and reaction time, which will be kept on file as a baseline score in the event of an injury. If a concussion has occurred, a repeat test can help inform decisions about readiness to return to play. Testing can be scheduled at most local hospitals and urgent care clinics. Thank you for helping us keep our student-athletes safe!
World Academy’s cross country team has achieved unprecedented success, earning the prestigious Mark Frazier Cup and growing from a modest program of 15-20 student-athletes to a thriving team of 70 dedicated runners in just six years. This remarkable achievement showcases our commitment to excellence in middle school athletics and exemplifies the power of dedicated coaching, strong family support, and a school culture that encourages students to discover their athletic potential.
The Mark Frazier Cup represents one of the highest honors in New Hampshire youth athletics, and World Academy’s cross country team’s receipt of this award marks a historic milestone for our Nashua independent school. This outstanding achievement reflects not only the athletic ability of our student-runners but also the dedication of our coaching staff, the unwavering support of our families, and the comprehensive athletic philosophy that defines World Academy’s approach to middle school sports.
Six years ago, World Academy’s cross country program began with a small but enthusiastic team of 15-20 students. Through exceptional coaching, inclusive programming, and a supportive school culture, the team has expanded to 70 participating student-athletes—a testament to the program’s success in inspiring young runners throughout our K-8 community. This dramatic growth demonstrates how quality middle school athletic programs can capture students’ enthusiasm and build lasting interest in physical fitness and competitive sports.
The success of World Academy’s cross country team stems from outstanding coaching that motivates student-athletes to excel both on the course and in the classroom. Our coaches create an environment where students are excited to run—so motivated that they eagerly participate in running activities even during gym class. This enthusiasm reflects coaching that goes beyond teaching techniques to instilling genuine passion for the sport, building confidence, and developing discipline that serves students well in all areas of life.
World Academy recognizes that championship athletic programs are built on strong partnerships between coaches, families, and the school community. The cross country team’s success exemplifies how parental involvement, family encouragement, and community support create an ecosystem where young athletes can thrive. Our families’ dedication to attending meets, volunteering, and cheering on our runners has been instrumental in building a program that student-athletes are proud to represent.
Cross country is just one component of World Academy’s robust athletics program, which has earned more than 35 Tri-County sports championships. Our middle school students benefit from diverse athletic opportunities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition. From team sports to individual athletic pursuits, World Academy provides the coaching, facilities, and support systems necessary for student-athletes to discover their abilities and reach their potential.
Participation in World Academy’s cross country program provides student-athletes with far more than physical fitness. Young runners develop essential life skills including goal-setting and perseverance through training and competition, time management by balancing academics with athletics, teamwork and leadership through supporting teammates, resilience by overcoming challenges and setbacks, and self-discipline through consistent training and preparation. These transferable skills serve students well throughout their academic careers and beyond, preparing them for success in high school, college, and future endeavors.
The cross country team’s achievement of the Mark Frazier Cup represents a potentially unprecedented accomplishment in World Academy’s history. This success reflects our school-wide commitment to supporting students in discovering and developing their talents, whether in academics, athletics, or the arts. Our whole-child educational approach ensures that student-athletes receive the academic support, coaching expertise, and encouragement they need to excel in all areas of their lives.
