Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week
Dear Wonderful Families,
To celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week (2/14-2/18), World Academy will be growing a Kindness Tree right in the Entrance Hall! Everyone in our “World” is encouraged to participate. We set up our tree on February 9th and are watching it blossom for the rest of the month.
Please see directions below:
1. Ask your students to pay extra attention to each other’s acts of kindness in the classroom, during recess, lunch transition, etc. “No Act of Kindness, No Matter How Small, is Ever Wasted.” -Aesop : )
2. Students, Staff and Families are encouraged to write acts of kindness on the heart-shaped leaves provided. Students should write a rough draft and have it reviewed by a teacher for grammar and content. When completing your final draft please use black marker. Here are a couple of examples that were shared last year.
Joe said something nice to me when I was feeling bad – From: Luke
Sara helped me pick up my crayons when they fell on the floor – From: Maddie
Brian was nice to me during lunch – From: Tom
Blank hearts can be found on the table by Mrs. Kirk’s and Mrs. Rose’s office and at the school’s Front Desk. All completed hearts can be given to the Front Desk or Mrs. Rose/Mrs. Kirk to post on our tree.
Kindness Trees are a beautiful way to focus on and acknowledge the importance of showing kindness within a school (and at home!). The tree helps foster kind, supportive relationships amongst students and teachers, and everyone loves to watch the tree “grow” as each good deed is recognized.
We can’t wait to see World Academy’s tree bloom. Thank you so much for your support. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Kindest Regards,
Mary Hulfachor, M.Ed., World Academy School Counselor
School Counselor Week is celebrated this week – February 7th through the 11th. It is fitting that we highlight the incredible work of our fabulous Counselor, Mrs. Mary Hulfachor. She has been instrumental in supporting student mental health and providing support to families and staff during the last four years and the value of her work can not be measured. She is a vital part of our team and we are happy to celebrate her and her wonderful work!! Thank you, Mary, from all of us!
Warmly,
Kathy and Lisa
