The “Nitrobots” Score 2nd Place At The Sphero Robotics World Championship!
World Academy is now home to the #2 team in the world for Sphero Robotics!
After a stellar performance in this year’s Sphero World Championships, our robotics team finished in Second Place, outperforming over 70 other teams competing from respective schools across the globe.
The “Nitrobots” team, led by our Robotics teacher Dan “the LegoMan” Hughes and co-coach Chris Chiodo, worked diligently over 10 weeks of competition, completing eight different missions and participating in intense judges’ interviews to take home the top honors.
Despite a difficult year and challenges presented by the pandemic, the coaches and this year’s talented student lineup—Matty Chiodo, Alex Mesiti, Ronen Shpindler, and Oliver Bradshaw—discovered the global STEM competition as a new way to show off their skills.
“After trying to restart our VEX team for the season, we were presented with the opportunity to compete in a competition featuring the Sphero Bolt robots that we have been using in class,” said Coach Hughes. “Thank you to the parents and families who hosted us in homes, drove all over Southern NH so we could meet, and are so supportive of what we do.”
Congratulations to the coaches and students for their excellent coding work and exciting victory this year!
