Weekly Update From World Academy – May 7, 2021
Dear Wonderful Families,
We want to thank you for all of your support during this pandemic but I was reminded yesterday by a friend that it is not over yet…not by a long shot. Although we may be lightening up on some protocols, we are still remaining vigilant to be sure our school community remains safe. With an eye on the summer as camp activity sign-ups are coming out on Friday, we want to remind you of the COVID precautions we are still taking to mitigate any issues: We are still podding our students so that we have additional staff hired to keep groups separate whenever possible; we still have runners who are helping with drop-off and pick-up; we have additional staff who are working on wellness checks; we maintain extra costs associated with cleaning and sanitizing supplies; we still have our daily cleaning crew do deep cleaning every evening; we still continue to use our acrylic dividers which take special cleaning to care for; we are still wearing masks, hand washing, using sanitizer and social distancing where necessary; we are still keeping our CLIA lab busy with testing; to name a few things. During the summer we will be using the outdoors more and that will require additional supervision, more updated activity areas, and will necessitate more outside programs.
As a result, we will continue charging a COVID fee of $10.00 a month of all attending families through the summer. We hope to be able to curtail this in the fall but cannot guarantee what will happen, then, with the virus. This will be a break for K-8 families for the time being who have been paying $20.00 per family due to the addition of new learning/technology stations to those areas. Thank you for your support and diligence in keeping us safe and operating on optimal levels. Your work has made this school year a really good one for our students. No lost learning was happening in our “World!” We were a team in their best interests… and we succeeded. Hopefully, we will not have to do the same next year but we are ready if it comes to that. Our “edgility”(educational agility) which is our ability to anticipate, adapt, and respond to challenges to keep students on track is keeping us a step ahead of the rest. We aim to continue that!
We want to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to all of our Moms, Grandmas and surrogate moms!!! We hope you find joy and love, on Sunday, and always!!
Warm regards,
Kathy and Lisa
