Our Celebration of the Week of the Young Child is coming soon! Take a look at what we have planned as we recognize our fabulous children and the importance of early education in setting the foundation for life!
The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The purpose of the week is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives in many ways, it hasn’t changed the need to celebrate and support the adults who love, care for, and educate our young children. With this, we encourage you to take the time during our celebration to lift up your advocacy voice on behalf of the children, families, and educators across the country, and in our community!
Here is how World Academy will be celebrating throughout the week!
We will kick off our ANNUAL BASKET RAFFLE starting Monday, April 5th. This is a classroom/family collaboration, and all proceeds go toward defraying the costs of our WOYC week-long celebration. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here. The link will be active starting Monday throughout the Week of the Young Child and ends Friday, April 16th at 3:00pm. STUDENT DAY – Monday, April 12th
LET’S CELEBRATE YOU – OUR STUDENTS
Today we celebrate and recognize the unique individuals whom we serve, and the outstanding things that they accomplish both inside and outside of World Academy. Watching our students grow and accomplish their goals is what we, as educators, strive for. The recognition of students fosters strong relationships among students, families, faculty, and the community and creates a positive school climate and culture where students feel valued.
FAMILY DAY – Tuesday, April 13th
ALL FAMILIES MATTER – Engaging and celebrating families is at the heart of supporting our children and students. World Academy applauds family members’ roles as their child’s first and most important teachers. Today we celebrate the unique role families play in their children’s identity, learning and development.
PTO VIRTUAL BINGO NIGHT
Today we will be kicking off a night of BINGO with ten fun-themed games via Zoom!! 6PM is the perfect time an after-school activity…. and still have time to get homework done! Oops! Did we forget to mention there are prizes for everyone who gets a BINGO? BINGO BONUS! Since we’ll be playing over Zoom, there’s no need to worry about cards or keeping track. On a separate device than the one used for joining the Zoom call (like a smartphone or tablet) download the free BINGO app and play along as the World Academy PTO calls out the squares. LEARN TOGETHER, WORK TOGETHER, CELEBRATE TOGETHER
For students to achieve a comprehensive, well-rounded education, integrated teamwork on several fronts is vital. Teamwork is necessary between students, between students and teachers, and among parents and educators. The more teamwork fundamentals exhibited, the more opportunity exists for students to learn the vital skills of compromise and collaboration.

TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY
Today we celebrate our Wonderful, Dedicated, and Hardworking Teachers! The important contributions of our teachers deserve to be celebrated, not just on one day, or one week, but every single day of the entire year! Please don’t forget to fill out your Teacher Appreciation Brag Sheet. Your feedback means the world to our teachers!! Teachers will be treated to surprise gifts throughout the day from administration and our fabulous PTO will be treating the teachers to a delicious Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. OUR WORLD – Friday, April 16th
CELEBRATING HIGHER LEVEL THINKING AND WHOLE CHILD FOCUS IN OUR WORLD
We are always focused on quality education and on this day we will show pride in our wonderful school by wearing OUR Blue and White school colors or any school clothing and paraphernalia. Children from Infants through Grade 8 will also participate in our school-wide Walk-a-Thon!! This year our Walk-a-Thon will feature a DJ for music to walk along to, balloons, inflatable race arch, bubbles all around the finish area, a water station manned by our PTO, a medal for completion, Walk-a-Thon shirts for all who are sponsored by $100 or more, and recognition at an upcoming Awards and Recognition Assembly which is live-streamed. Please don’t forget to fill out your School Appreciation Brag Sheet, your feedback makes our world turn!!
