Heidi Connell

Toddler Support Teacher

Hi, my name is Heidi Connell and I am brand new to World Academy but not new to the world of Early Childhood Education. I come to the Academy with 32 years of work in the field. I hold an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Certificate of Child Care through a combination of educational institutions starting with Ricks College, Brigham Young University, and continuing course work at the Community College of Vermont where I graduated with an Associate of Arts.

I was born in Torrington, CT. Shortly after that my parents moved to Vermont. From that time I have lived, married, and raised my five children in northern Vermont. In Vermont, I was a stay at home mom and for more than 30 years operated a Preschool/Early Childcare Center from my own home while watching and teaching my own five children. I had the best of both worlds in a huge way to use both my learning and finishing my degree and raising my children.

I am married and we bought a home in Nashua a year ago. I am an avid figure skater and love being engaged in fitness activities, the outdoors, reading, puzzles, coloring, and doing fun trips with my husband. All of my children are grown and have started lives of their own throughout New England. However, when I do get the chance to see them, I relish it!

I am very passionate about the field of Early Childhood Education. I find it to be exciting and supremely rewarding. I believe an educator must be nurturing, encouraging, and inspiring for each child and their family. I believe children learn best with a whole child approach that involves incorporating the physical, academic, and social/emotional into their education. I believe in diversity to grow and learn from each other and that teamwork of teachers, the child, and family are essential in building a relationship that encourages and achieves success. I enjoy an environment full of teaching moments – whether big or small – that offer growth and strength and can be challenging. I believe in a fun environment that offers encouragement and engagement towards teacher/staff and children’s minds. I believe in being held accountable and striving for excellence and growth when we are faced with a challenge. Finally, I believe in hard work and hope to make a lasting impression on the little minds here at World Academy and my peers. I look forward to learning and growing here and working with you all!
