Elementary Spanish and Middle School Teacher

Rhonda Lajoie Hawthorne is thrilled to join the World Academy Team this year! This will be her 27th year teaching Spanish, and she has enjoyed studying and teaching in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador. She received her degrees from Eastern Nazarene College and The University of Costa Rica. She has advanced certifications in teaching Spanish and Theatre. 

Rhonda grew up in Ashburnham, Massachusetts, and now lives in Dunstable, Massachusetts with her wonderful family including her rescue dog and bunnies. She loves the summer, but is always excited to get back to school! 

Rhonda feels fortunate to be able to teach and get to know students for who they are, and where they are in their personal stages of life. She is known to incorporate active games, activities and music to instill a love of and passion for learning and speaking Spanish. She believes that the classroom is a family, and we are all there to help and cheer on each other. Rhonda can’t wait to get started with the World Academy Family!
