Shannon McGrath
Middle School Math/Engineering and Technology Program Teacher
Shannon McGrath is excited to begin her first year at World Academy as a member of the Middle School team. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Architecture from Norwich University, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Middle School Mathematics from Liberty University. She holds a Middle Level Mathematics teaching certification in NH.
Mrs. McGrath is the wife of a retired U.S. Marine Corps officer and the proud mother of three boys. Military life gave her family the opportunity to live in a variety of communities, meet people from many backgrounds, and experience different parts of the country. These days, much of her time is spent cheering on her sons while driving them to football, wrestling, and lacrosse practices and games. When she isn’t at a sporting event, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. McGrath worked in architecture. That experience helps her make meaningful real-world connections to math in the classroom and connect why it matters beyond the classroom. She believes that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again. Her goal is to help students build confidence in mathematics/STEM while developing the critical thinking and problem solving skills they will use throughout their lives
