The World Academy PTO is dedicated to fostering a sense of community, school support and school pride, to nurture a culture of respect, success and quality for all World Academy students. We achieve this through the year hosting community projects, social events and fun activities that encourage family engagement, with the goal of giving our students a “World of Opportunity.”
Please consider joining the PTO this year and sharing your time and talents! You might find a fellow classroom parent, a new acquaintance with a common interest, or a lifelong friend as you participate in making our school an even more vibrant community for our students. Undoubtedly, you will be strengthening the investment you made in your child’s education.
Every parent/guardian of a World Academy student is urged to participate in any way, as there is no contribution too small. We understand all parents are busy parents. We believe that your child will benefit even more from his/her school experience with you as an active part of it.
In light of the pandemic, it is all the more valuable to have multiple voices helping to build community, especially with physical restrictions in place limiting many interactions.
A strong school has a strong PTO community working in partnership with it! We hope to see you soon.
The World Academy Parent/Teacher Organization’s (PTO) purpose is to support the education and high-quality experiences of the students of World Academy and their families. This is done by fostering relationships throughout the World Academy community which result in a positive, proud and strong school culture, as well as raising the funds needed by the school for enrichment and enhancements.

PTO meetings are a great way to stay updated on school happenings and network with teachers and other parents. All World Academy parents and teachers are welcome to attend. We value your input and support!
Due to current restrictions, we anticipate that PTO meetings will occur remotely via Zoom for the foreseeable future. The PTO meets for an hour+ bi-monthly at 7PM on Tuesdays and the scheduled 2020-2021 dates are:
September 22, November 10, January 12, March 9 and May 11
Please contact the PTO Co-chairs to be sure you are on the PTO email list and/or want to receive a link to participate.
Can’t make the meetings? No problem! We send an email summary covering key points and ways to participate after each meeting. Just let us know how you would like to get involved.
Throughout the school year, the PTO organizes several events, many of which have become eagerly anticipated and special traditions for years. The current PTO has benefitted from the heartfelt contributions and energies of a long list of dedicated parent and teacher volunteers who have helped to build and grow the many (now familiar) activities in the PTO calendar. We are so grateful for the ‘big shoes to fill’ that have made the PTO what it is today!
The PTO endeavors to remain flexible while we fulfill our mission of fostering strong connections between parents, teachers, and students. Some of our event highlights include:
Pumpkin Stroll (mid-October)
Art to Remember Fundraiser
Family Fun Night
Parent Educational Program (March)
Several of our favorite events—the Annual Bake Sale in November and the Staff Appreciation Breakfast & Luncheons (December/April)--may look and feel quite differently this year due to the pandemic. Necessary modifications will be made to adhere to proper protocol, while we plan as many of these special PTO events as we can.
To that end, the PTO Co-Chairs will work closely with the School Leadership team to ensure that the offered events will be appropriate, thoughtful, and as inclusive as possible as the school year evolves. Shifting health and safety restrictions may necessitate calendar and event changes along the way (more reason to stay connected to the PTO via the email list).
The PTO is actively thinking of ways to maintain a busy events schedule that supports community-building, gratitude, and family engagement. This is a dynamic and challenging time, so for this reason and more, we want to hear your ideas and creative solutions! There is still a great deal of fun and school spirit to celebrate this year through the PTO!
The World Academy PTO raises funds through the Box Tops for Education program. It is an easy way for everyone to help support school-wide events.
Each Box Top credited to the School is worth $.10 and that can really add up! In 2019, the Tops program went digital, in that families are no longer required to physically clip and return the Tops for credit.
Now by taking a picture of your grocery store receipt showing the purchase of eligible Box Tops products, the Tops will be automatically credited to the participating school—that’s easy!
To get started, download the Box Tops app to your smartphone, choose World Academy as your chosen school and grab your grocery store receipt. For Apple users, click here; for Android users, click here). It is fun, and you are earning money for the school, so THANK YOU!
