Parent Teacher Organization

The World Academy PTO is dedicated to fostering a sense of community, friendship, school support and school pride while nurturing a culture of respect, success, and quality for all in our ‘World.’ We achieve this throughout the year by hosting community projects, social events, and fun activities that encourage family engagement and relationship building with the goal of giving our students the cohesive support of a collaborative community.

Our mission is to connect students, families, and staff through fun and meaningful community events. These events are only made possible by the support of families like you! There are a variety of ways to participate and contribute so we encourage every family to join! Join our mailing list and receive meeting invites and notes, event details, and volunteer opportunities.

Mission Statement

The World Academy Parent/Teacher Organization’s (PTO) purpose is to promote the school’s positive culture and to support the high-quality experiences of the students of World Academy and their families. This is done by fostering relationships throughout the World Academy community which result in a proud and strong school culture while raising the funds needed by the school for enrichment and enhancements to offer each “a World of Opportunity.”

Meetings

Attending PTO meetings is the best way to stay in the know on all things PTO. Meetings are typically held monthly, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at 7:00 p.m. over zoom. Join our mailing list to receive meeting invites and recap notes.

Yearly Events

Throughout the school year, the PTO organizes several events, many of which have become eagerly anticipated and special traditions for years. The current PTO has benefitted from the heartfelt contributions and energies of a long list of dedicated parent and teacher volunteers who have helped to build and grow the many (now familiar) activities in the PTO calendar. We are so grateful for the ‘big shoes to fill’ that have made the PTO what it is today!

The PTO endeavors to remain flexible while we fulfill our mission of fostering strong connections between parents, teachers, and students. Some of our event highlights include:

  • Uniform Swap
  • Scholastic Book Fair
  • Pumpkin Stroll
  • Pie Sale Fundraiser
  • Art to Remember
  • Teacher Appreciation Breakfast
  • Week of the Young Child

To that end, the PTO Co-Chairs will work closely with the School Leadership team to ensure that the offered events will be appropriate, thoughtful, and as inclusive as possible as the school year evolves.

The PTO is actively thinking of ways to maintain a busy events schedule that supports community-building, gratitude, and family engagement. This is a dynamic and challenging time, so for this reason and more, we want to hear your ideas and creative solutions! There is still a great deal of fun and school spirit to celebrate this year through the PTO!

Ongoing Fundraisers

The World Academy PTO raises funds through the Box Tops for Education program. It is an easy way for everyone to help support school-wide events.

Each Box Top credited to the School is worth $.10 and that can really add up! In 2019, the Tops program went digital, in that families are no longer required to physically clip and return the Tops for credit.

Now by taking a picture of your grocery store receipt showing the purchase of eligible Box Tops products, the Tops will be automatically credited to the participating school—that’s easy!

To get started, download the Box Tops app to your smartphone, choose World Academy as your chosen school and grab your grocery store receipt. For Apple users, click here; for Android users, click here). It is fun, and you are earning money for the school, so THANK YOU!
