World Academy is Redefining What It Means To Be S.M.A.R.T.
Aug 30, 2017
At World Academy in Nashua, we have some pretty “smart” students - and it’s not just measured in test scores.
Meet Sami, a dedicated and determined rising seventh grader here at World. He’s a star student, and in more ways than just grades. Sami is a proud member of our World Academy team in the New England Math League, for which he tied for first in New Hampshire among the Carroll, Grafton, Hillsborough, Rockingham regions at this year’s Math League competition in February. He’s also a History buff, having qualified and competed in the 2017 National History Bee on the World Academy team, and he even spent this summer attending an Envisions Leadership Camp in California, where he learned and discussed the value of true leadership with students from all over the country.
On top of his academic achievements, Sami also impresses the crowd on the basketball court, where he and the World Academy team took home the Tri-Valley League Championship Trophy in 2017 to claim their spot at the top of the local league. Outside of school, Sami qualified to represent the Greater Nashua YMCA Storm swim team with other 18 fellow swimmers at the Winterfest 2017 Swim Tournament. Add in Sami’s dedication to music as a saxophone player in our World Academy band, and you’ve got one super student who’s as well-rounded as he is dedicated to success here in school and beyond.
Students like Sami are just about everywhere you look here at World Academy, where we focus on the support and development of the “whole child” - that is, the success of a student beyond just the classroom and into their social, physical, academic, emotional, cultural, and creative development as well. In supporting a child’s holistic education, we strive to make students who are truly S.M.A.R.T:
-Socially and culturally adept, able to adjust to new surroundings and forge meaningful bonds with friends and team members to form a supportive and successful community for all those working together to reach a common goal;
-Motivated to succeed and grow independently, with a dedication to personal achievement that allows for personal responsibility and improved decision making as students move toward adulthood;
-Artistic and appreciative of creativity in all forms, including visual, musical, and even digital expressions of artistic and visionary works. Our students learn the value in their own imagination, fostered through a dedication to individual expression;
-Respectful of the cultures, beliefs, and needs of others, drawn from their own experiences working with a diverse group of students, educators, and peers right here at World Academy;
-Team-oriented and skilled at finding support from those who can offer it, as well as offering support to those who need it based on their own strengths and confidence gained through sports, studies, and group-based activities.
Sami isn’t the only one - we have students dedicated to bringing out their fullest selves all through the halls here at World Academy, where our instructors and staff work daily to support students and their families in becoming insightful, intelligent, and well-rounded young adults who are ready to take on whatever path they may choose after graduation. It’s all in our philosophy of supporting the “whole” child in every student - and we always look forward to watching young faces grow into the impressive alumni we still stay connected with, even years after they’ve passed through our doors.
If your child is looking for an exciting and supportive way to exceed in education and discover how they can truly shine, we invite you to come and visit World Academy and see why we’re so dedicated to what we do - and with such “smart” students, we look forward to watching new students get started on their path to success each and every year.
